The 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America is one of the most anticipated athletic events for people in the Greater Boston Area. 2025 marks the 129th Annual Boston Marathon and ICW is excited to shout out our second ever marathon team. Many aspiring runners applied, but only 5 were chosen due to their passionate commitment to ICW’s mission. Please take a moment to get to know (and support) Ashley Douglas, Ian Webb, and Alana MacDonald, along with newly added Marilyn Tyer and Dean Murphy. If you want to support any of these athletes in their fundraising, all fundraisers can be found by searching their names on GivenGain.

Ian is a freelance video producer from Concord, Massachusetts. He began running during the pandemic as a way to get out of the house but now runs competitively in various road races. While this may be his first marathon, this is not his first time running for ICW. In 2023, he ran the Falmouth Road Race for ICW. Ian’s history with us runs deep. He says “When I had first got exposed to ICW, I had known what systematic racism was and things like that but I didn’t really have a full understanding until I started working with ICW”. Ian works closely with our longtime partners B/SPOKE and has filmed some content at our gym with them. Through this work, Ian says, ”… I got to know some of the trainers here and I think just getting to hear them and their story is just inspiring… it makes me want to get more involved”. You can donate to Ian’s marathon fund through his GivenGain linked here.

Ashley is from Burlington, Vermont and works at a pharmaceutical company. She has ran many races but this is her first marathon. Having attended Boston College, she saw the hype of the race first hand and made it a goal to one day run the Boston Marathon. Running for a charity gives her more motivation and she feels more supported through her donors and our organization. Ashley first heard of ICW through fitness classes at her company and says that ICW is “a way to get connected with people in the city that you may have not otherwise been connected to and learn about a different perspective”. You can support Ashley’s marathon journey through her GivenGain linked here.

Alana is from Rochester, New York and works for our long time partners RA Capital. She has attended ICW events and challenges, such as the Fittest in Finance and our Fittest Company Challenge. Alana has been running competitively since middle school and now competes in road races, triathlons, half marathons, and even an ultra marathon (about 31 miles!). She was inspired to run her first traditional marathon by a friend and jumped on the opportunity to earn an ICW bib. Alana is very familiar with our mission and model and says “I think fitness just in general is a really great way to connect different people of all different backgrounds, no matter what everybody can pick up a dumbbell it doesn't matter where you’re from or who you are you can hop on a spin bike or go for a run, that's a really good way to unite people” You can support Alana’s fundraising goal through her GivenGain linked here.

ICW is proud to partner with Charity Teams to connect us with these amazing runners. If you or anyone you know are interested in running for a charity, keep an eye out for an application for ICW for various races in the Boston area.
