On September 12, ICW hosted OutBio for a networking event and workout. OutBio is a professional network for LGBTQ people in biotech founded by Ramsey Johnson, the VP of Operations for Phoenix Tissue Repair. The workout was led by the coach-turned-Head of Development Ian and trainers Daunte and Nate. The group workout consisted of a circuit style workout with weight training and cardio. The group replenished with food on the rooftop and enjoyed chatting with each other and the ICW crew. Daunte said, “It was a great group!”
Recently, ICW has been expanding our corporate outreach with a focus on biotechnology companies. With one of our first locations being in the brilliant Kendall Square, it seemed like a no-brainer to connect with our neighbors. Forming these partnerships with nearby businesses opens up the door for further collaboration and participation with the community. Hosting events with organizations within the community allows them to get a firsthand look at the ICW mission in action. Visiting the facilities and working with the trainers leaves a much more meaningful impression than just reading about ICW online. A large part of the ICW mission is bridging social capital. Collaborating with companies and groups such as OutBio brings together people who might have never met otherwise, building trust between different groups of people and directly supporting our mission.
